The 2011 prizes for articles published in VAA were announced at the AVA Spring Meeting, Davos, March 2012.

The Langley Prize awarded for the best paper in VAA. It is funded by the educational trust in memory of Col. John Langley, who founded theTrust

The Wiley-Blackwell Prize is for the second best paper in VAA and is funded by the publishers

Intermittent positive pressure ventilation with constant positive end-expiratory pressure and alveolar recruitment manoeuvre during inhalation anaesthesia in horses undergoing surgery for colic, and its influence on the early recovery period. The Novartis Prize: Sponsored by Novartis Animal Health for the best analgesia papers published in VAA in 2011.

This year the prize was shared between the authors of two manuscripts:
