The Association of Veterinary Anaesthetists is an active, enthusiastic
group of veterinary surgeons and others who share an interest in animal
anaesthesia. We hold regular meetings at various venues in Europe which
are open to all those who share our common interest. The Association was
established in 1964 to promote the study of, and research into, the subject
of anaesthesia in animals. It also publishes the Journal
of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia. and has been active in the
founding of the European College of Veterinary
Anaesthesia. We are keen to promote colloboration between anaesthetists
in all places, and actively encourage the establishment and taking of
diplomas and degrees in veterinary anaesthesia.
The detailed constitution for the association is available for download in pdf format.
The Association also has an education Trust Fund to support training in anaesthesia.
The membership of the Association includes veterinary surgeons in general practice as well as specialist veterinary anaesthetists, university teachers, medical anaesthetists, and scientists, all with a common interest in anaesthesia and related subjects. Although based in Europe we have a large membership in North America and the Antipodes. The AVA always welcomes new members - if you have a professional interest in anaesthesia, why not apply to join the association
